Shock as Bodog anonymizes buttons in client

Today in a surprise move, sure to send shock waves through out the poker industry, Bodog announced it will shortly be anonymizing all the buttons in its poker client. The move is reportedly to prevent winning players from having the unfair advantage of knowing how much they are betting or even more egregiously, if they are raising or folding.

A Bodog spokesman, who refused to be identified, gleefully stated, “for years people who have taken the time to learn how to play poker properly have taken advantage of those that haven’t by cynically learning the correct moves and using them. Victimising players who, through no fault of their own, were never quite able to get round to reading a poker book. We say no more! We believe in a completely level playing field!”

The spokesman declined to be drawn into further speculation that Bodog will soon anonymize all cash prizes on their site so that no one will have the advantage of knowing how much they’ve won. However they did point to their fast cash out times whilst some observers claim to have heard the spokesman laughing maniacally under their breath.

Editors note: Due to recent efforts to anonymize their own name, the company referred to as Bodog in this article may or may not be called Bodog in your region at the time of press.

Yet More Advanced Search Options

The advanced search options in SharkScope keep getting more advanced! Just some minor additions this time, but they are still extremely powerful when used correctly.

AdvancedSearchNameHoursFilter.png

We’ve added a tournament name filter, so you can now answer such questions as what are my results like from just “SCOOP” tournaments. Or inversely exclude “Sunday Storm” related results from your statistics for example.

Another much requested change has been to allow you to enter a custom numbers of hours into the Last X Hours filter option instead of the previously fixed Last 12 Hours and Last 16 hours options.

Keep letting us know what you want and we’ll keep added the features…..

New Upgrades to SharkScopers

Welcome to the new and improved SharkScopers. It’s much like the old sharkScopers, but simpler, cleaner, and more refined. We’ve freshened the site up on both the front end and the back end, so you’ll see some visual changes and new features as well. Here’s an outline of what’s new:

Communication and Comments

One of the areas I really wanted to improve on is communication/comments. The SharkScopers forums now have their own unique design, so the lines between forums and blogs are no longer blurred. We made the forum posts wider, increased the size of the user information on posts, and added an optional comment subject.

For the blogs, news, and videos, we found that many of the comments needed individual attention from the author of the post. To make this easier, we set up threaded comments. Now, when you reply to a specific comment, your reply will show up indented below that comment. Try it out!

Navigation

SharkScopers has a lot of content! We have users, forums, blogs, news, videos, and more coming soon (coaching and competitions, to name a few). On one hand, we don’t want to overwhelm new visitors with endless menus, but, at the same time, we want everything to be easily found. This was a tricky area to tackle, but I believe we’ve reached a good solution.

Each section now has it’s own menu on top of it. So, for example, if you’re viewing a news page, there’s menu items for SharkScope news, SharkScopers news, and all news. Each user also has their own menu now. If you’re viewing one of fultip777’s videos, you’ll see his avatar and that he’s an instructor. You’ll also see links for his profile, blog, videos, (and coaching details in the future).

Further refinements in this area will continue to be rolled out over the next few weeks.

Design

My goal is to under-design SharkScopers, keeping it clean, simple, and light weight. Less gradients, less drop-shadows, less colors, and less attention grabbing flashy things, means you can focus more on what’s important — the content. Keeping design simple, with a solid foundation, will also keep SharkScopers flexible for future change.

New video from PimpinDonks

Along with all of the new upgrades, we’ve also posted a new training video from PimpinDonks. If you’ve been following his blog, PimpinDonks set up and ran a live poker training group, consisting of SharkScopers members. Over the course of a few weeks, his students have made more then $30,000! Using the members of his training group as an example, PimpinDonks’ latest video teaches you how to play when you’re faced with a table full of sharks. If you’re a PimpinDonks fan, or you haven’t unlocked any videos yet, this video is a must have.

More to come

In the short-run, you might notice a few features missing from the previous version of the site. This may be on purpose or because we haven’t had a chance to integrate them yet. Over the next few days we’ll still need to do a few tweaks and modifications, but nothing major that would require the site to be taken down.

In the long run, we will continue working to build SharkScopers into the best community of its kind. Coaching, accepting new instructors and videos, running promotions for members, and further integrating with SharkScope is on the list of priorities.

And in closing, I want to give a big thanks to everyone who’s been actively participating in the community during our beta/early stage. All this work I’ve outlined above is only to provide the community platform. You guys are the ones who shape the site and push it forward.

Now tracking Partouche.fr & the Dollaro network

SharkScope continues its mission to track every online tournament by adding coverage of the French facing Partouche.fr poker site, along with the Dollaro network which caters to the rest of the world (excluding the US).

Whilst many player’s will not of heard of the Dollaro network which is made up of the BetClock.com and DollaroPoker.com sites, it is extremely popular and regularly makes it into the top 10 highest traffic networks globally. The network is primarily focussed on the Italian market but allows players from all over the world, with the exception of the US.

Partouche is a smaller regulated independent site that exclusively serves the French market and is backed by the powerful Partouche group that owns a large number of Casinos in France. Recent Partouche promotions have included the Partouche Poker Tour series of live tournaments and €10,000 in freerolls for new depositors.

Hot Topic: Guarantees and Overlays

SharkScope has now added Guarantee and Overlay filters to its already extensive set of tournaments filters that allow players to view their statistics from specific tournaments and see upcoming tournaments.

On the player statistics page you can now view your results from tournaments which had a certain size guarantee or had an overlay on the tournament where a guarantee wasn’t met and the poker site had to add money to the tournament. Find out how much more money you make in these value tournaments.

AdvancedSearchOverlayFilter.png

Do these tournaments attract more novice players, further enhancing your profit or are they just attracting too many sharks, savvy enough to look for this extra value?

How big does the overlay have to be to increase your profitability by 50%?

These questions and more can be answered by the Guaranteed and Overlay filters.

These new filters also add extra to the tournament selector. You can now look for upcoming scheduled tournaments with the biggest overlays on all networks.

Using this you’ll never miss the biggest value tournaments on the internet and could massively increase your profit.

Rush Poker Leader-Boards

In an effort to always be proactive and after getting a post on SharkScopers.com about Rush Poker, SharkScope has decided to create a leaderboard dedicated to Rush Poker (Rush, Zoom, Speed etc inc.)

Rush poker is a game, no matter what the variation, unto itself and it has its own nuances. Most importantly it takes a certain amount of discipline in that because you see that many more hands you can upgrade your starting hands. I mean if you fold a semi-playable marginal hand you’re not waiting for the next hand, you’re already in it. So you can see folding marginal playing hands is a key, but do you have the discipline.

Also, there’s a separate skill in reading players. When you’re at a normal ring game you can get to know your opponents fairly quickly, exploit their weaknesses. In Rush Poker, you don’t get to sit with the same players. So instead of trying to read the 6 or 9 players at your table, you have to remember the play of multiple players that you run across the games, you can at some point actually play against every player in the tournament. This is where the SharkScope HUD would be a great tool and put you miles ahead of anyone not using a HUD!

One advantage for you live players, Rush makes it some much easier to attain deposit bonuses and points races etc.

Please take a look at the Sharkscope leaderboards, find out who’s doing what and if you’re one of the leaders.

In honor of their new upgrade, there’s a new SharkScope Bonus! Go to the Facebook Sharkscope page, like the page and there will be a bonus code to get 20% of your new subscription or an upgrade, but you must got the code from the RealSharkScope page on FaceBook.

The code will be good till the end of the month so there’s no RUSH lol!!

Hope that helps
